Borussia Dortmund August Preview: A tricky start to the season awaits
By Tushar Bahl
Borussia Dortmund kick-start their bid to win the Bundesliga title and the DFB-Pokal this month. While a trophy will also be up for grabs.
August is here and the start of the 2021/22 season is almost upon us. Borussia Dortmund face a tough start to the season, with five matches coming up in 21 days across three competitions. And it will be interesting to see how they start the season after a pre-season that was disrupted due to several injuries and players’ involvement at the Euros.
Here is a look at what lies ahead for Borussia Dortmund in August.
August 07: Away to SV Wehen Wiesbaden (DFB-Pokal)
Borussia Dortmund begin the Marco Rose era with a trip to third division side SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the first round of the DFB-Pokal. The Black and Yellows will be expected to win this one comfortably. But as we have seen so many times over the years in the Pokal, you can take nothing for granted.
SV Wehen Wiesbaden will certainly need no motivation for this game as they look to pull off a stunning upset. While Borussia Dortmund will be aiming to start their DFB-Pokal defence with a dominant win.
