A new era gets underway at Borussia Dortmund this season, with Marco Rose taking over as head coach. As the 44 year old prepares for his competitive debut, we take a look at how the Black and Yellows could line up this season.

Pre-season is over and the 2021/22 season is about the get underway. Borussia Dortmund have had a busy summer, dominated by the exit of Jadon Sancho. Donyell Malen has arrived from PSV Eindhoven to replace him. While Gregor Kobel, Soumaila Coulibaly and Abdoulaye Kamara have also been signed to bolster the BVB squad.

Marco Rose has been tasked with plotting Borussia Dortmund’s charge for the Bundesliga title following his summer move from Borussia Mönchengladbach. He wants BVB to be tactically flexible, so it will be interesting to see what formation he goes with this season. But no matter what the system, fans can expect to see high pressing, lots of running and fast-paced attacking football.

Here we take a look at how Borussia Dortmund could line up under Marco Rose this season.

Goalkeeper: Gregor Kobel

Starting in goal will be new signing Gregor Kobel. The 23 year old joined Borussia Dortmund from VfB Stuttgart this summer, and will be the team’s first-choice goalkeeper ahead of Marwin Hitz and Roman Bürki. Kobel showed at Stuttgart last season that he has the potential to develop into a top goalkeeper. And fans will be hoping that he can provide the consistency and security that was missing in goal last season.
