Steffen Tigges looks set to stay at Borussia Dortmund beyond the summer. And he wants to play his part in the team’s success this season.

Steffen Tigges has enjoyed an impressive rise over the last 12 months. After impressing for the Borussia Dortmund U-23s in the Regionalliga West, the towering striker was given the chance to feature in the first-team. He made a total of eight first-team appearances last season, and looks set for more opportunities in the upcoming campaign.

Tigges played in all four of Borussia Dortmund’s pre-season games this summer, scoring two goals. And now he is eyeing his first goal in the Bundesliga. In an interview with Sport1, the striker said:

"“I haven’t scored a goal in the Bundesliga yet, but I’m working on that. If I can contribute a few goals to the team’s success, I would be very happy. The adjustment period is over, now I have to start delivering.”"

Tigges has attracted the interest of a number of clubs in recent weeks, including Bundesliga side FC Köln. But the 23 year old is happy at Borussia Dortmund, and is not thinking about a move away from the club at the moment.

"“At the moment, it’s not an issue. I was very surprised recently that such a rumour had surfaced. Everyone has told me that there have been no negotiations. I’m honoured if there has been interest in me from a club like Köln. Of course things can change in three or four weeks. As of now, however, I don’t want to change anything about my situation. I am very happy here.”"

Tigges also heaped praise on his Borussia Dortmund strike partners Erling Haaland and Youssoufa Moukoko.

"“His (Haaland’s) ambition, dynamism, will and hard work are almost unique for a man of his age. In every training session, I can see how he works in depth. It’s just fun to watch him.”“On the pitch, he (Moukoko) plays with an ambition and skill that is impressive. I’m not being clairvoyant when I say that he has a great career ahead of him.”"

It was reported last month that Tigges will be playing an important role for the Borussia Dortmund U-23s this season as they look to stave off relegation from the 3. Liga. The striker confirmed that he will play some games for the U-23s, and said that it will only help with his development.
