Marco Reus (6.5/10)

Reus forced an excellent save from the goalkeeper with a free-kick from 25 yards in the first half. He then set up the opening goal of the game for Erling Haaland. The BVB captain also played the final pass to Haaland before the latter won a penalty just four minutes later. He wasn’t as involved after the break and was given a breather in the second half with the game already in the bag.

Erling Haaland (9/10)

Haaland made a dream start to the season as he scored a hat-trick to lead the Black and Yellows to victory. He could have easily ended the evening with at least five goals with the amount of chances he had. But it was still an excellent performance from the Borussia Dortmund number nine.

Steffen Tigges (4.5/10)

Tigges wasn’t able to get on the same wavelength as Haaland or the rest of the attacking players. He worked tirelessly for the team but was hardly involved in the attacking play. He only got 20 touches of the ball over the course of the 66 minutes he spent on the pitch, and lost possession 11 times.
