Manuel Akanji vs Rafael Santos Borre

Another exciting battle will see Manuel Akanji go up against new Eintracht Frankfurt striker Rafael Santos Borre. Mats Hummels’ injury means that Akanji will lead the Borussia Dortmund defence this weekend.

Akanji will be partnered by Antonios Papadopoulos or Emre Can at centre-back. But either way, the Swiss international will have the job of anchoring the Borussia Dortmund defence against the dangerous Eintracht Frankfurt attack.

Akanji goes into the new Bundesliga season in fine form. He was rock solid at the back in the second half of last season, and also showed his quality for Switzerland at the Euros.

He faces a tricky test on Saturday against Rafael Santos Borre, who joined Eintracht Frankfurt on a free transfer this summer. The 25 year old striker has the tough task of replacing Andre Silva’s goals. But if he performs like he did for River Plate last season, he could be a handful for the opposition defenders this season.
