Borussia Dortmund reportedly keeping an eye on Hajduk Split youngster Stipe Biuk
Borussia Dortmund are reportedly interested in signing 18 year old Croatian winger Stipe Biuk, who currently plays for Hajduk Split.
Borussia Dortmund are said to be keeping an eye on highly rated Hajduk Split winger Stipe Biuk. The 18 year old has impressed for the Croatian side after coming up through their youth ranks. According to Croatian newspaper Sportske Novosti, he is also being scouted by Manchester City, Juventus, AC Milan, Eintracht Frankfurt and a number of other clubs. However, Hajduk Split aren’t interested in selling him this summer.
Despite being rather tall, standing at a height of 1.84m, Biuk is very light on his feet and able to dribble past his opponents with relative ease. He has a silky smoothness on the ball that is quite atypical for players who don’t have a natural lower centre of gravity. Biuk also has a lethal finish that he used to help his team over the course of his 11 appearances last season. The Croatian youngster put three goals and three assists on the board for his side over the course of his breakthrough campaign.
The sale of Jadon Sancho has left Borussia Dortmund light on natural wingers. However, Marco Rose seems to favour a diamond formation that does not depend on wingers. The Biuk rumour comes after reports linking Noni Madueke with a move to the Westfalenstadion have died down, with PSV working hard to keep hold of their prized winger after Donyell Malen’s move to Borussia Dortmund.
With Hajduk keen on keeping the youngster for now, the newspaper adds that interested clubs are keeping a close eye on the situation and waiting for the right moment to open negotiations. It remains to be seen how real Borussia Dortmund’s interest is in signing the winger. But if Biuk continues to progress this season, they may consider making a move for him next summer.
