A total of 27 goals were scored this past weekend as the 2021/22 Bundesliga season got underway. There were big wins for Borussia Dortmund, VfB Stuttgart and TSG Hoffenheim. But Bayern Munich and RB Leipzig failed to get the three points.

The 2021/22 Bundesliga season kicked off on Friday with Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach facing off at the Borussia-Park. Gladbach took a shock lead in the 10th minute, with Alassane Pléa firing the ball past Manuel Neuer. Bayern managed to equalise on the stroke of half-time through Robert Lewandowski. But neither team was able to find a winner, and the game ended 1-1.

Last season’s runners-up RB Leipzig suffered a shock 1-0 defeat to Mainz 05. Moussa Niakhaté scored the only goal of the game to give Bo Svensson’s side a stunning matchday one win.
