Borussia Dortmund player ratings from 3-1 defeat to Bayern Munich
By Tushar Bahl
Felix Passlack (3/10)
Passlack looked uncomfortable right from the start. He had a lot of problems against Kingsley Coman, Serge Gnabry and Alphonso Davies over the course of the 84 minutes he spent on the pitch. He gave Gnabry far too much room to put his cross in for Bayern’s opener. Bayern’s second goal also came from his flank, with Davies able to get in behind rather easily.
He did play a part in Borussia Dortmund’s goal. But his performance will be defined by his poor giveaways and sloppy defending.
Axel Witsel (5.5/10)
Witsel did not always look comfortable at centre-back, but he still made some vital blocks and tackles for his side. Borussia Dortmund could have done with his presence in the middle of the park against Bayern.
Manuel Akanji (5/10)
Akanji seemed to be just about holding the Borussia Dortmund defence together on his own at times in the first half. He looked solid and calm, and rescued his side on a number of occasions. But his strong first half performance was undone by his disappointing giveaway for Bayern’s third goal.
Nico Schulz (5.5/10)
Schulz made some decent defensive contributions for his side. But as always, his decision making going forward was poor. If he can be more decisive and impactful in attack, Schulz can become a decent back-up left-back for Borussia Dortmund.
