Marco Rose believes that Erling Haaland could stay at Borussia Dortmund beyond the end of the current season, despite rumours linking him with a move away from the club.
Speculation about Erling Haaland’s future continues to dominate the headlines. While the striker is staying on with Borussia Dortmund this season, multiple top clubs are already said to be queuing up to make a move for him next summer. But Marco Rose believes that Haaland could yet stay with the Black and Yellows beyond the end of the current season.
"In an interview with SportBILD, the Borussia Dortmund head coach said:“He [Erling Haaland] still has a long-term contract with us. Just because the media is constantly talking about him leaving BVB next summer doesn’t necessarily mean that will be the case.”"
Marco Rose also added that Erling Haaland has to decide for himself where he sees his future.
"“In the end, Erling has to decide for himself where he sees his future. In any case, we are happy that he is currently playing for us. And who knows, maybe even more than just one season, if we write an extraordinary story here. I’m very relaxed about it.”"
A number of clubs are said to be interested in signing Haaland, including Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United.
The BVB bosses fended off all interested parties this summer by announcing that Haaland is not for sale at any price. But the Norwegian international’s contract reportedly contains a release clause, that will come into effect at the end of the current season.
Haaland, who has two years left on his current contract, has said on multiple occasions that he is happy at Borussia Dortmund and loves playing for the club. He has scored 62 goals in 62 appearances across all competitions since joining BVB from RB Salzburg in January 2020.
Haaland has started the 2021/22 season in excellent form, scoring five goals and providing two assists in just three appearances for Borussia Dortmund.
