Borussia Dortmund suffered their first league defeat of the season, losing 2-1 to a determined SC Freiburg side on matchday two of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season.

Goals from Vincenzo Grifo and Roland Sallai helped SC Freiburg earn a hard fought 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund on Saturday. It was a below average performance from Marco Rose’s side, who looked like a shadow of the team that put five goals past Eintracht Frankfurt just last weekend.

Erling Haaland and Marco Reus weren’t able to get involved at all, while new signing Donyell Malen had a game to forget. And there were also the usual defensive blunders, allowing Freiburg to come away with the three points.

Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from their 2-1 defeat to SC Freiburg.

Gregor Kobel (6/10)

Kobel did not stand a chance with Grifo’s stunning free-kick or Sallai’s second half goal. He made a couple of good saves and also came off his line to make some vital clearances for his side.
