Marco Reus (4/10)

Reus was rendered ineffective by the Freiburg defence for the majority of the 90 minutes. He worked hard and tried to press high up the pitch. But it simply wasn’t his day.

Erling Haaland (4/10)

Haaland had a couple of decent opportunities to score. And on another day, he could have ended up with at least one goal. But the Norwegian international was kept quiet by Schlotterbeck for the majority of the game. He did manage to set up a great chance for Malen in the second half, which the Dutchman failed to convert.

Donyell Malen (4/10)

Making his first start for Borussia Dortmund, Malen looked like a man bereft of confidence. He was often crowded out by the Freiburg defenders and was too slow with his decision making on a number of occasions. He had a good chance to make it 2-1 in the second half, but he tried to round the goalkeeper and ended up taking the ball too wide.
