Borussia Dortmund have announced that they will play a charity benefit match on September 1 to help those affected by the recent floods in Germany.
Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke announced last month that they would be staging a charity match to support the victims of the flood disaster in Germany. Now details of the benefit match have been revealed, and BVB have confirmed that the game will take place on September 01 (kick-off at 17:30 CET).
Borussia Dortmund will travel to the Ischelandstadion in Hagen to take on two teams from the Westfalenliga. They will play 45 minutes each against SpVg. Hagen 1911 and SV Hohenlimburg 1910. They will play the first half against SpVg. Hagen 1911 and the second half against SV Hohenlimburg 1910.
The game will be played in front of almost 5,000 supporters. And it will be shown live on Sky Sport News, BILD TV and BVB-TV. The money collected from both the ticket sales and TV broadcast will go towards helping those affected by last month’s floods.
Hans-Joachim Watzke said that with this charity match, Borussia Dortmund want to do their part in helping those affected by the floods. “We will do our part to help those affected by the floods and give all the proceeds from the charity match to the victims,” Watzke said.
With the game set to take place during the international break, some Borussia Dortmund players will be absent as a result of their national team commitments. But the Black and Yellows will still likely have a number of big names in their squad for the game. Tickets for the game can be purchased here. The prices are €10 for a standing spot and €20 for a seated place.
