Borussia Dortmund will go up against Sporting CP, AFC Ajax and Beşiktaş JK in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

The draw for the group stage of the 2021/22 UEFA Champions League took place on Thursday, and it delivered some mouth-watering matches. Borussia Dortmund were drawn in Group C, and they will have to overcome the challenge of Sporting CP, AFC Ajax and Beşiktaş JK to qualify for the round of 16.

Matchday one of the UEFA Champions League group stage will take place on 14/15 September, 2021. While the final matchday of the group stage is scheduled for 7/8 December 2021.

Borussia Dortmund topped their UEFA Champions League group last season. They then defeated Sevilla in the round of 16, before being knocked out by Manchester City in the quarterfinals. And they will be aiming to at least reach the last eight once again this season. But first they have to get out of what should be a highly competitive group.

Borussia Dortmund have faced Sporting CP twice in their history. The two sides met during the 2016/17 Champions League group stage, and the Black and Yellows won both games. Borussia Dortmund and Ajax have faced each other four times in the past, and both teams have won two games apiece. BVB’s two meetings against Beşiktaş JK came all the way back in 1989. The Black and Yellows won both legs of the Cup Winners’ Cup tie between the two teams.

Marco Rose’s side will certainly fancy their chances of qualifying for the round of 16, but we should be in for some very exciting matches between the four teams in Group C.
