Borussia Dortmund 3-2 TSG Hoffenheim: Key talking points
Borussia Dortmund were dramatic winners of a very hotly contested fixture against Hoffenheim at the Westfalenstadion on Friday, which ended 3-2 in favor of the Black and Yellows.
Borussia Dortmund and dramatic finishes have become quite synonymous over the years, and games against Hoffenheim have often been some of the most thrilling contests. Prior to this game, Dortmund hadn’t won against Hoffenheim at the Westfalenstadion since December of 2017, when both Christian Pulisic and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were still at the club and responsible for the result going in BVB’s favor.
From the moment the first whistle was blown, this match had all the makings of an intense affair. Hoffenheim racked up a handful of yellow cards with some strong but dangerous tackles, but Dortmund were still able to press Sebastian Hoeneß’s side into their own half for the first 45 minutes.
In the second half, the game really opened up for both sides and a flurry of attacks saw goals go in at both ends. It would take a dramatic finish from Erling Haaland in injury time to seal the result for Dortmund, but it would be a deserved win for Die Schwarzgelben in the end. Let us take a look at some of the key talking points from Friday’s game.
