Callum Hudson-Odoi set for Chelsea stay despite Borussia Dortmund interest

Borussia Dortmund were interested in signing Callum Hudson-Odoi on a season long loan deal. But it looks like the winger will not be leaving Chelsea on transfer deadline day. 

Borussia Dortmund have been heavily linked with a move for Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi in recent days. The Black and Yellows reportedly wanted to sign him on a season long loan deal and the player was also open to making the switch to Germany in order to get regular first-team football. But after failing to sign any of their targets, Chelsea have decided not to let Hudson-Odoi leave the club on transfer deadline day.

Hudson-Odoi would have no doubt been a welcome addition for Borussia Dortmund, who do not have too many natural wingers in their squad at the moment. The 20 year old is also capable of playing as a wing-back and in the number ten role. And his versatility would have made him a really good fit for Marco Rose’s side.

Hudson-Odoi is considered to be one of the best young attacking talents in England, and has long been linked with a move to the Bundesliga. He has made a total of 99 appearances for Chelsea, but hasn’t been used in any of their three Premier League matches so far this season.

Borussia Dortmund have made one signing on transfer deadline day, bringing in Marin Pongracic on a season long loan deal from VfL Wolfsburg. The 23 year old defender becomes the club’s fifth and likely final signing of the summer transfer window.
