Youssoufa Moukoko made history on Thursday evening as he scored a brace on his debut for the Germany U-21s.
Youssoufa Moukoko became the youngest player to ever play and score for the Germany U-21s during their dominant 6-0 win over San Marino. The Borussia Dortmund striker was named in the Germany U-21s starting XI on Thursday evening for their 2023 UEFA European Under-21 Championship qualifier against San Marino. And he marked his debut by finding the back of the net twice.
Moukoko made his Germany U-21s debut on Thursday at the age of just 16 years and 286 days. He broke the record set by Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz, who was 17 years and 159 days old when he made his Germany U-21s debut last year. And Moukoko’s two goals helped him surpass Julian Draxler, who was 17 years, 323 days old when he scored his first goal for the Germany U-21s back in 2011.
Moukoko’s Germany U-21s debut would have come a lot sooner had he not suffered a ligament injury in training before the first game of the 2021 U-21 Euros in March. He finally got the chance to make his Germany U-21s debut on Thursday, and he made sure that it was one to remember.
Moukoko has already broken several records at club level, and is the youngest player to ever play in both the Bundesliga and the UEFA Champions League. The highly rated striker also became the youngest ever goalscorer in Bundesliga history in December 2020, when he scored against Union Berlin.
Moukoko has made a total of 20 appearances across all competitions for Borussia Dortmund. He already has three goals and one assist to his name for the Black and Yellows.
