Richmond Tachie scored the only goal of the game as Borussia Dortmund II earned a hard fought 1-0 win over TSV Havelse to move up to third place in the 3. Liga standings.

Borussia Dortmund II’s start to life in the 3. Liga has been a very eventful one, with plenty of drama and goals. They were made to work hard by a resilient TSV Havelse side on Sunday, but got the job done in the end.

With Steffen Tigges and Tobias Raschl out through injuries, and Luca Unbehaun and Ansgar Knauff away on international duty with the Germany U20s, Enrico Maaßen was forced into making a number of changes to his side for the trip to TSV Havelse on Sunday afternoon.

Borussia Dortmund II dominated the game from the start, but were kept at bay by TSV Havelse for the majority of the first half. That proved to be the story of the match, and BVB II had to wait until the 69th minute to find their breakthrough. The goal arrived through Richmond Tachie, who continued his strong start to the season by beating the Havelse goalkeeper from close range after an excellent pass from Cebrail Makreckis.

Tachie’s goal proved to be the winner for Borussia Dortmund II and helped them climb up to third place in the 3. Liga standings. Last season’s Regionalliga West champions have won four of their seven games in the 3. Liga so far this season. They currently find themselves two points behind league leaders 1. FC Magdeburg, who they will face next weekend in what should be a cracking contest.
