Marco Reus has suffered a knee injury and will miss Germany’s World Cup qualifier against Iceland. But reports claim that he is likely to be fit in time for Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash against Bayer Leverkusen this weekend.

Germany head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed that Marco Reus will miss their World Cup qualifier against Iceland on Wednesday. The Borussia Dortmund captain was absent from Germany’s final training session before the game due to a knee injury. But Flick has said that the injury appears to be a minor one. And Kicker even report that Reus will likely be fit in time for Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against Bayer Leverkusen.

Reus has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s best performers so far this season, and also scored for Germany against Armenia on Sunday. And the Black and Yellows will be hoping that he will not have to face any time off with his knee injury.

Reus becomes the third Borussia Dortmund player to return to home early from international duty due to an injury. Gio Reyna suffered a hamstring injury while playing for the United States last week. And Thomas Meunier wasn’t able to play at all for Belgium after picking up a muscle injury. Both Reyna and Meunier are now back in Dortmund to have their injuries assessed. It remains to be seen whether they will be available to face Bayer Leverkusen this weekend.

Meanwhile, Mats Hummels is in line to make his return to the team against Bayer Leverkusen. But Emre Can is out for several weeks with a muscle injury.
