Defenders: Thomas Meunier, Marin Pongracic, Manuel Akanji, Raphael Guerreiro

Thomas Meunier starts at right-back after recovering from the muscle injury that affected him during the international break.

Marin Pongracic makes his Borussia Dortmund debut following his loan move from VfL Wolfsburg on transfer deadline day. Mats Hummels is not yet fit to start, but he is on the bench for the Black and Yellows.

Manuel Akanji has held the Borussia Dortmund defence together on his own at times so far this season. And he will once again be crucial on Saturday against the in-form Bayer Leverkusen attack.

Raphael Guerreiro will start at left-back. He missed the entire pre-season with a muscle injury and is still working his back to full fitness. But he did get some playing time under his belt during the international break. And he will be crucial to Dortmund’s hopes of victory against Bayer Leverkusen.
