Thomas Meunier (5.5/10)

Meunier did not make the best of starts to the game. He clumsily lost the ball on a few occasions in the first half and ended the game with an incredible 23 ball losses. But he managed to make an impact on the other side of the pitch and helped set up two of Borussia Dortmund’s four goals, as well as Jude Bellingham’s disallowed goal.

The Belgian international was also lucky not to be sent off in the second half.

Marin Pongracic (6/10)

Pongracic made his Borussia Dortmund debut and showed glimpses of what he is capable of producing. He won all of his duels and made several vital recoveries for his side. His lack of coordination with Manuel Akanji did cost BVB on both of Leverkusen’s goals in the first half. But their understanding will only get better with time.

Manuel Akanji (5.5/10)

Akanji failed to close down Florian Wirtz in time for Leverkusen’s first goal. He improved as the game went on, and also won all of his duels. But he did not look as solid as he did in the opening five games of the season.

Raphael Guerreiro (6/10)

Guerreiro’s game was a bit of a mixed bag. He scored a stunning free-kick and made an important last ditch challenge to prevent Leverkusen from making it 2-0 in the first half. But he also gave the ball away cheaply in the build up to the first goal, and forgot his defensive duties on quite a few occasions.
