Borussia Dortmund player ratings from incredible comeback win over Bayer Leverkusen
By Tushar Bahl
Julian Brandt (6/10)
Brandt had a first half to forget. He gave the ball away on countless occasions, including just before Bayer Leverkusen’s second goal. But he made up for that mistake by scoring the equaliser early in the second half. That goal certainly showed his quality. And he will be aiming to build on that in the coming weeks.
Marco Reus (6/10)
Reus was the only Borussia Dortmund player making things happen in the first half. He wasn’t as involved after the break, but showed great determination to win the penalty that led to the winner. As always, Reus also made some vital defensive contributions for his side.
Erling Haaland (8/10)
Haaland got on the end of Meunier’s cross and headed the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-1 in the first half. He then set up Bellingham for the disallowed goal, before assisting Brandt’s equaliser after the break. He kept his composure and scored the penalty to give Borussia Dortmund the lead in the 77th minute. That goal sealed a memorable comeback win for the Black and Yellows.
Donyell Malen, Mats Hummels, Marius Wolf (N/R)
None of the substitutes managed to make much of an impact on the game.
