Decision on Erling Haaland’s availability for Augsburg clash to be made at short notice

Erling Haaland has missed Borussia Dortmund’s last two games with a muscle injury. A decision on his availability for this weekend’s game against Augsburg will be made at short notice.

Erling Haaland suffered a muscle injury in training last week and has been forced to miss each of Borussia Dortmund’s last two games as a result. The 21 year old’s absence has certainly been felt, as Dortmund have managed to score just one goal in their last two games.

Haaland was at the Signal Iduna Park on Tuesday evening. He received the UEFA Champions League forward of the season award and then watched his teammates earn a 1-0 win over Sporting CP. The striker now faces a race against time to be fit for Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga clash against FC Augsburg this weekend.

According to Ruhr Nachrichten, Haaland received treatment at Borussia Dortmund’s training ground on Wednesday. Michael Zorc said on Tuesday that a decision on his availability for the game against Augsburg will only be made on Friday or Saturday.

"“We have hope for Saturday and it is not out of the question. But it will only be decided on Friday or maybe even Saturday,” Zorc said."

Haaland has already been named in the Norway squad for the upcoming international break. But Borussia Dortmund will be hoping to have him fit and available this weekend. The striker has scored 11 goals in just eight appearances for the Black and Yellows so far this season.

Donyell Malen started up front in Haaland’s absence on Tuesday and scored his first ever goal for Borussia Dortmund. And the hope will be that the BVB strike duo can form a dangerous partnership in the weeks and months to come.
