Players to Watch

Donyell Malen will be full of confidence going into the game against Augsburg, having opened his account for Borussia Dortmund on Tuesday. The Dutch striker is set to start up front on his own again on Saturday, and he will certainly have his sights set on scoring his first ever goal in the Bundesliga.

Julian Brandt made his return from injury on Tuesday and is set to replace Mahmoud Dahoud in the starting XI against Augsburg. Saturday’s game could be the perfect opportunity for Brandt to show his quality and stake a claim for a regular starting spot in the team.

Augsburg have really struggled to score goals so far this season. But they do have a talented strike force. The highly rated Ruben Vargas is more than capable of causing problems to the BVB defence. While Daniel Caligiuri has a knack of producing his best performances against Borussia Dortmund. The former Schalke man has six goals and six assists to his name against the Black and Yellows. And he is one player they will definitely have to keep an eye on.

Previous Meeting: Borussia Dortmund 3-1 Augsburg

Borussia Dortmund came from behind to earn a 3-1 win over Augsburg the last time these two sides met back in January. André Hahn gave Augsburg a shock lead at the Signal Iduna Park, before Thomas Delaney equalised for Dortmund.

Jadon Sancho then gave Borussia Dortmund the lead in the second half, before an own goal from Felix Uduokhai wrapped up the win for Edin Terzic’s side. Erling Haaland missed a penalty in that game, but later went on to set up the own goal.
