Marco Rose believes that England manager Gareth Southgate’s decision to give Jude Bellingham a rest is very smart.

Jude Bellingham was left out of the England squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers on Thursday. England manager Gareth Southgate revealed that the decision was made in order to give the midfielder a bit of rest. And Borussia Dortmund head coach Marco Rose has welcomed the decision, saying that it is important for them to take care of the players.

"“Jude always wants to play. But I think it was a good decision by the England national team coach not to nominate him,” Rose said on Friday. “The last few weeks and months have been intense. We have to take care of the boys, the decision is very smart.”"

Bellingham was part of the England squad that reached the final of the European Championships this summer. As a result, he had to miss the entire pre-season and only returned to training a few days before Borussia Dortmund’s first competitive game of the new season. Despite that, he has started all ten of BVB’s games so far this season.

A two week break will allow Bellingham to recharge his batteries and get some well earned rest ahead of the busy period of games that awaits Borussia Dortmund after the international break. The Black and Yellows are set to play seven matches across three competitions over a 22-day period following the international break. And the 18 year old will no doubt have a key role to play in the majority of those games.

Bellingham, who made his 100th competitive appearance in club football earlier this week, has been one of Borussia Dortmund’s best performers so far this season. He has two goals and four assists to his name in ten appearances across all competitions.
