Bayern Munich suffered their first defeat of the season on matchday seven, allowing Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen and SC Freiburg to close the gap at the top.

Eintracht Frankfurt produced a stunning upset on Sunday as they came from behind to hand Bayern Munich a 2-1 defeat. The Eagles were still searching for their first league win of the season after a poor start to the campaign. And after Leon Goretzka gave Bayern the lead at the half hour mark, few would have expected Oliver Glasner’s side to get anything out of the game.

But Martin Hinteregger equalised just three minutes later, before Filip Kostic smacked home the winner past Manuel Neuer in the 83rd minute to complete an incredible comeback win.

Bayer Leverkusen went level on points with Bayern Munich after thrashing Arminia Bielefeld 4-0. Patrik Schick scored a brace for Bayer, while Moussa Diaby and Kerem Demirbay were also on target in the rout.

Borussia Dortmund are just a point behind Bayern after seeing off the challenge of FC Augsburg on Saturday. Goals from Raphael Guerreiro and Julian Brandt helped the Black and Yellows earn a 2-1 win. Andi Zeqiri was on target for the Bavarian side.

Borussia Mönchengladbach continued their resurgence with a 3-1 win over VfL Wolfsburg. Early goals from Breel Embolo and Jonas Hofmann helped Gladbach race to a two goal lead. Luca Waldschmidt pulled a goal back for Wolfsburg, before Joe Scally sealed the win in stoppage time after Maxence Lacroix was sent off.

SC Freiburg remain the only unbeaten team in the Bundesliga. They earned a 2-1 win away to Hertha BSC on Saturday. Philipp Lienhart opened the scoring for Christian Streich’s side, before Krzysztof Piatek equalised in the 70th minute. Freiburg weren’t to be denied though. And Nils Petersen came off the bench to score the winner and send his team up to fourth place in the table.

FC Köln maintained their excellent start to the season with 3-1 win over SpVgg Greuther Fürth. Goals from Sebastian Andersson and Ellyes Skhiri (x2) helped the Billy Goats turn things around in the second half after Marco Meyerhöfer’s early opener.

Union Berlin also came from behind to get the three points, as they beat Mainz 05 2-1. Marcus Ingvartsen opened the scoring for Mainz, but a quick-fire brace from Taiwo Awoniyi helped the Berliners complete an impressive comeback win.
