Three goals in the final 12 minutes helped SC Paderborn earn a 3-0 win over Borussia Dortmund in a friendly match on Thursday afternoon.

Borussia Dortmund went up against second division side SC Paderborn in a hard-fought friendly match on Thursday. The Black and Yellows were without the majority of their regular starters, with some away on international duty and others sidelined with injuries.

Still, Marco Rose was able to name a decent starting XI featuring a number of first-team players including Julian Brandt, Emre Can, Reinier, Marius Wolf and Nico Schulz. Tobias Raschl, Antonios Papadopoulos and Lennard Maloney were also given a chance in the starting XI against Paderborn.

Borussia Dortmund dominated possession right from the start and came close to scoring on a few occasions. Tobias Raschl and Julian Brandt both forced saves from Moritz Schulze in the first half. And the Paderborn goalkeeper made another fine stop to keep out Marius Wolf’s curling effort early in the second half.

Borussia Dortmund created little in terms of chances after that and Paderborn took the lead in the 78th minute after a quick-fire counter attack. Felix Platte finished coolly past Marwin Hitz to open the scoring. Another giveaway in midfield led to Paderborn’s second goal. Prince Owusu found the corner of the net with a well taken volley. Felix Platte then sealed Paderborn’s win just two minutes later after Dortmund lost possession in midfield yet again.

Despite the result, it was a good workout for Borussia Dortmund. The players who have just returned from injuries were able to get some minutes under their belt. And Marco Rose was also able to take a closer look at some of the youth team players.
