Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are ahead of Bayern Munich in the race to sign RB Salzburg striker Karim Adeyemi, according to Sky Sport.

Karim Adeyemi’s name continues to make waves this season with the young German international being linked with a host of clubs both within Germany and abroad. Initial reports suggested that Bayern Munich were in the lead to sign their former academy player but Sky Sport is now reporting that both Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are ahead of Germany’s Rekordmeister in terms of landing the player.

Initial reports suggested that Bayern may make a move for Adeyemi as soon as the January once the winter transfer market opened, but Sky is now stating that the player is more likely to not pursue a move to the Allianz Arena. Adeyemi’s camp reportedly sees Robert Lewandowski as a stumbling block in Adeyemi’s eventual game time and development, which makes Bayern a less appealing target for the youngster to pursue.

Borussia Dortmund on the other hand may be looking for a replacement for Erling Haaland come the summer, which would mean that Adeyemi would slot into the starting XI quite comfortably despite not being a one to one replacement for the Norwegian international.

It has even been reported that Dortmund would make a move for Adeyemi even if Haaland stays at the club beyond the summer of 2022, a prospect that leads me to believe the club would be willing to play Adeyemi or Haaland’s current strike partner Donyell Malen in a wider position.

RB Leipzig, for their part, may be on the lookout for a striker to help bolster their ranks in the event that André Silva’s form for Die Roten Bullen does not improve. The move does however, as of right now, seem to be in favor of Dortmund should previous information indicating Adeyemi’s soft spot for the club are still current.

Both clubs have made concrete contact with the player and his representatives. Die Schwarzgelben would do well to secure the services of a talented player that could not only help bolster their attacking firepower, but also put in performances that show the drive and perseverance of a player that wants to genuinely play for the club.
