Jude Bellingham and Gio Reyna on 20-man shortlist for the Golden Boy award
Borussia Dortmund midfielders Jude Bellingham and Gio Reyna are both on the 20-man shortlist for the 2021 Golden Boy award.
Tuttosport have announced the shortlist of the final 20 players who are in the running to win the 2021 Golden Boy award, and Borussia Dortmund duo Jude Bellingham and Gio Reyna have both been included. The Golden Boy award is given to the best performing U-21 player playing in Europe ever year.
Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland won the Golden Boy award last year. And Jude Bellingham and Gio Reyna are among the top contenders to win the award this time around on the back of their stellar seasons.
Jude Bellingham has made an incredible impact since joining Borussia Dortmund from Birmingham City in 2020. He has established himself as a key player for the Black and Yellows, delivering several standout performances in midfield over the last 12 months.
Gio Reyna has also enjoyed a remarkable rise over the last 18 months and is now a regular starter for Borussia Dortmund. The USMNT international has ten goals and 11 assists to his name in 69 appearances for BVB. Earlier this month, Bellingham and Reyna were also named in the 10-man shortlist for the Kopa Trophy, which is awarded to the best performing U-21 player by France Football.
Some of the other players in contention to win the 2021 Golden Boy award include Pedri (FC Barcelona), Jamal Musiala (Bayern Munich), Karim Adeyemi (RB Salzburg), Eduardo Camavinga (Real Madrid), Mason Greenwood (Manchester United) and Florian Wirtz (Bayer Leverkusen).
