Marco Reus and Erling Haaland were both on target as Borussia Dortmund continued their impressive start to the season with a 3-1 win over Mainz 05.

Borussia Dortmund dominated their game against Mainz right from the start and opened the scoring in just the third minute through Marco Reus. Erling Haaland then won and converted a penalty to make it 2-0 in the second half.

Mainz got themselves back to within one goal with three minutes to go, as Jonathan Burkardt beat Gregor Kobel after a mistake from the Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper. But Haaland scored his second goal in stoppage time to seal the hard fought win for his side.

Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from their 3-1 win over Mainz 05.

Gregor Kobel (5/10)

Kobel was hardly tested over the course over the 90 minutes. He only had one save to make, and he stood up to the task to deny Boëtius. But he was also responsible for Burkardt’s goal as it was his poor clearance that allowed Mainz to win the ball back in the final third of the Dortmund half.
