Borussia Dortmund were handed a reality check on Tuesday evening as they suffered a 4-0 defeat away to Ajax in the UEFA Champions League group stage.

Borussia Dortmund were outplayed and outclassed by Ajax, suffering a 4-0 thrashing on matchday three of the UEFA Champions League group stage. It was a nightmarish evening in Amsterdam for the Black and Yellows who conceded two goals in each half and would have lost by an even bigger margin had Gregor Kobel not made some fantastic saves.

Borussia Dortmund’s body language looked flat and they were second best right from the start. Ajax took the lead through an own goal from Marco Reus, before Daley Blind made it 2-0. Antony and Sebastien Haller then added to the scoreline in the second half to hand Marco Rose’s side a heavy defeat.

Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from their 4-0 defeat to Ajax.

Gregor Kobel (8/10)

Not often does a team lose by four goals and the goalkeeper gets a rating this high. But had it not been for Kobel, Ajax could have ended the night with 7-8 goals. The Swiss goalkeeper made some outstanding saves and was the only Borussia Dortmund player who actually had a good game.
