Thomas Meunier (3/10)

Meunier has been in good form of late but struggled to show his recently discovered offensive prowess against Ajax. He looked lethargic on the ball and failed to track back quickly enough after possession was overturned, leaving too much space for Dusan Tadic and Daley Blind to counter attack.

Manuel Akanji (4/10)

Akanji was arguably Borussia Dortmund’s best defender. But that’s not really saying much. He had a tough evening against the Ajax forwards and was lucky that his first half challenge on Haller wasn’t adjudged to be a penalty by the referee. He was also second best in a lot of his duels.

Mats Hummels (3/10)

Hummels made a vital block to prevent Antony from scoring in the ninth minute and set up a good chance for Haaland early in the second half. But other than that, it was a poor performance from Borussia Dortmund’s defensive leader. He gave away the free kick before the first goal, headed the ball straight back to Ajax in the build up to the second, and lost sight of Haller before the Ajax striker made it 4-0.

Nico Schulz (2.5/10)

Schulz had a torrid time against Antony in the first half and was replaced by Emre Can at half time. He had no idea how to deal with the threat posed by the Brazilian winger and wasn’t able to make any impact going forward either.
