Gregor Kobel had to be substituted during Borussia Dortmund’s 3-1 win over Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday. But his injury is not expected to be serious.

Borussia Dortmund have been hit by a number of injuries in recent weeks, and several key players including Erling Haaland, Raphael Guerreiro, Gio Reyna and Thomas Meunier are out at the moment. BVB fans received another scare on Saturday as Gregor Kobel collided with the post while making a save in the first half of the Bundesliga clash against Arminia Bielefeld.

Kobel carried on until half time but was replaced by second choice goalkeeper Marwin Hitz for the second half. The Swiss shot stopper gave an update on Instagram after the game and said that it shouldn’t take him too long to recover from his injury.

"“As you know I had a date with the goalpost,” Kobel said. “We are both fine, everything’s not so bad! Shouldn’t take too long to recover.”"

Sebastian Kehl also confirmed on Sunday that Kobel’s injury is not serious, but added that it remains to be seen whether Borussia Dortmund’s first choice goalkeeper will be able to play in Tuesday’s DFB-Pokal second round tie against FC Ingolstadt.

"“He has a thigh contusion,” Kehl told Kicker. “We have to wait and see if it is enough for Tuesday. But Marwin Hitz was on hand on Saturday, and with him and Roman Bürki we have reliable alternatives.”"

If Kobel is forced to miss Tuesday’s game, Marwin Hitz will start between the sticks for Borussia Dortmund. One of Luca Unbehaun and Roman Bürki will then start on the bench for the Black and Yellows.

Kehl also gave hope that Mahmoud Dahoud, Thomas Meunier and Youssoufa Moukoko could be back in action soon. Erling Haaland, on the other hand, will be absent for several weeks and could even be sidelined until December. Gio Reyna also remains out for now.
