Defence: Marius Wolf, Marin Pongracic, Manuel Akanji, Emre Can

Borussia Dortmund’s injury woes prompted Marco Rose to go with a back three at the weekend. But chances are that he will revert to a back four on Tuesday in order to give one of Manuel Akanji and Mats Hummels a bit of rest. Akanji played every minute of Borussia Dortmund’s season so far while Hummels has been struggling with a knee problem.

Marius Wolf should keep his place on the right after an encouraging performance against Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday. The versatile wide player has been solid whenever called upon this season.

Raphael Guerreiro and Nico Schulz are both still absent, so it will be interesting to see who starts at left-back. Thorgan Hazard played as the left wing-back on Saturday. But the Belgian international has never played in the slightly deeper left-back role. So Emre Can could fill in for him on Tuesday. Felix Passlack could also be an option if Can is needed in a different position.
