Marius Wolf has done a solid job whenever he has been called upon by Marco Rose this season. And Michael Zorc believes that the versatile wide man deserves his chance at Borussia Dortmund.

Marius Wolf’s Borussia Dortmund future looked to be bleak when he returned to the club in the summer after spending last season out on loan with FC Köln. He was linked with a move away from the Black and Yellows, but nothing materialised in the end. Fast forward to two months later, and the 26 year old has already made 11 appearances for BVB this season.

With Thomas Meunier out injured, Wolf was named in the Borussia Dortmund starting XI for their Bundesliga clash against Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday. He delivered an impressive performance and made some very dangerous forward runs down the right flank. He also came close to scoring, but his shot was well saved by the Bielefeld goalkeeper.

Wolf’s encouraging display on Saturday saw him earn praise from Michael Zorc. The Borussia Dortmund sporting director said that Wolf deserves his chance in the team and he showed why with his performance against Arminia Bielefeld.

"“I’ve already emphasised several times that Marius deserves these opportunities,” Zorc told Ruhr Nachrichten. “He always gets stuck in, and the position on the wing in front of a three-man backline really suited him on Saturday. He did a very good job in Bielefeld.”"

Wolf has featured in all but three of Borussia Dortmund’s games so far this season. He has been used in four different positions, with his versatility making him a very useful player for Marco Rose.

Wolf has shown so far that he certainly has something to offer to this team, and hopefully we will see more encouraging performances from him in the coming months.
