Borussia Dortmund player ratings vs Ingolstadt: Thorgan Hazard brace seals DFB-Pokal progress
By Tushar Bahl
Thomas Meunier (7/10)
Meunier was always trying to get forward down the right flank. And he delivered some really sharp crosses that someone like Erling Haaland would have relished. He set up a golden chance for Steffen Tigges in the second half, but the striker was denied by the crossbar.
Axel Witsel (5.5/10)
Witsel was on the ball quite a lot but struggled at times in his duels. He was overpowered by the Ingolstadt midfielders on a couple of occasions in the first half but got a lot more comfortable as the game went on.
Jude Bellingham (7/10)
Bellingham caused the Ingolstadt defence all sorts of problems in the first half. At times it looked like he was ready to take on all of Ingolstadt’s defenders by himself. He hit the crossbar from the edge of the box and created a couple of decent opportunities for his teammates. He was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet in the end. But it was still an impressive performance from the England international.
Julian Brandt (7/10)
Brandt looked a bit flat in the first half but he stepped his game up after the break. He led the team with a total of six key passes and also helped set up both of Hazard’s goals. The playmaker delivered a well-weighted pass for the opener and played in the cross that led to the second goal.
Marius Wolf (7/10)
Wolf showed once again that he can be the answer to Borussia Dortmund’s lack of depth on the wings. The versatile wide man started on the left but looked a lot more comfortable after switching to the right following Thomas Meunier’s withdrawal. He was heavily involved in the build-up play in the second half and also came close to scoring on a couple of occasions.
