Borussia Dortmund will have to make do without Emre Can for their next three games after the midfielder suffered a muscle injury.

The injury bug continues to bite Borussia Dortmund, and this time it is Emre Can who has gone down with a muscle injury. Marco Rose confirmed during his press conference on Friday that the versatile midfielder will be sidelined until after the international break with a ‘minor muscle injury’.

Emre Can’s latest injury means that he will at the very least miss Borussia Dortmund’s next three games. The Black and Yellows are due to go up against FC Köln in the Bundesliga this weekend. They will then host AFC Ajax on matchday four of the UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday. And Dortmund’s final game before the international break will see them make the trip to RB Leipzig next weekend.

This is already Can’s third muscle injury of the season, and that is a very worrying sign for both the player and the club. The 26 year old has already been forced to miss nine games this season due to injuries. And the hope will be that his latest injury does not keep him out of action for too long.

Mahmoud Dahoud and Gio Reyna are also sidelined at the moment with their respective injuries, leaving Borussia Dortmund very light in terms of midfield options. In addition to the midfield trio, Marco Rose’s side are also without Erling Haaland, Raphael Guerreiro, Nico Schulz and Mateu Morey at the moment.
