Bundesliga roundup: Freiburg continue stunning run; Leverkusen lose again

Matchday ten of the 2021/22 Bundesliga season saw Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and SC Freiburg cruise to victories. But Bayer Leverkusen suffered yet another defeat.

The Bundesliga top three continued their fine run of form on matchday ten of the season. Bayern Munich responded to Wednesday’s embarrassing DFB-Pokal defeat by earning a 5-2 win over Union Berlin. Robert Lewandowski scored a brace for the defending Bundesliga champions.

Borussia Dortmund kept pace with Bayern Munich by claiming a 2-0 win over FC Köln. Goals from Thorgan Hazard and Steffen Tigges helped the Black and Yellows get the three points.

SC Freiburg remain third following their impressive 3-1 win over SpVgg Greuther Fürth. Christian Streich’s side have yet to lose a game this season. But a tough test awaits them next weekend as they travel to Bayern Munich.

Wolfsburg began the Florian Kohfeldt era with a 2-0 win away to Bayer Leverkusen. Goals from Lukas Nmecha and Maximilian Arnold helped the Wolves turn Leverkusen’s week from bad to disastrous. RB Leipzig were held to a 1-1 draw by Eintracht Frankfurt thanks to a last-gasp equaliser from Tuta.

Mainz 05 are up to fifth place in the Bundesliga table following their 2-1 win over Arminia Bielefeld. Jonathan Burkardt continued his excellent run of form by scoring the winner for the 05ers.

Borussia Mönchengladbach followed up their thrashing of Bayern Munich with a 2-1 win over VfL Bochum. First half goals from Alassane Pléa and Jonas Hofmann sealed a much-needed win for the Foals.

Hoffenheim ended Hertha Berlin’s winning run by earning a 2-0 win thanks to first half goals from Andrej Kramaric and Sebastian Rudy. While Augsburg came from behind to thrash Stuttgart 4-1.
