Borussia Dortmund take on Ajax on matchday four of the UEFA Champions League group stage on Wednesday night. The Black and Yellows will look to go level on points in Group C with their opponents to give themselves the best chance of qualifying in top spot.

This is expected to be another tough match for Borussia Dortmund with Ajax in red hot form after earning three wins from three in the competition so far.

Since these two sides last met on matchday three, Borussia Dortmund have responded well with three wins in three in all competitions including a 2-0 win in the DFB-Pokal against Ingolstadt.

Thorgan Hazard has been one of the main components to the Black and Yellows’ success of late, with three goals to his name in the last two games including a brace in the cup.

Dortmund have a tough game coming up this weekend against RB Leipzig, so Marco Rose will be hoping that his side can pick up the three points on Wednesday night to take some momentum into the Bundesliga topspiel on Saturday.

Ajax have only played a couple of times since they faced Borussia Dortmund two weeks ago. They have picked up four points in the Eredivisie, a 5-0 romping of PSV Eindhoven followed by what they may well see as a disappointing draw against Heracles Almelo.

Should Ajax defeat Marco Rose’s side on Wednesday night, they will qualify for the last 16 which is something they may well want to get done as soon as possible in order to allow concentration on the league in the coming weeks, with PSV just two points behind them in the table.

Ajax will be looking to build on the 4-0 thrashing they handed out to Borussia Dortmund last time out to push themselves on.
