Borussia Dortmund were handed a 3-1 defeat by Ajax in the UEFA Champions League group stage after Mats Hummels received a controversial red card.

Borussia Dortmund suffered a disappointing 3-1 defeat against Ajax on matchday four of the UEFA Champions League group stage. The game was marred by controversy though, as Mats Hummels was given a very harsh red card in the first half.

Despite Hummels’ sending off, the Black and Yellows took the lead through Marco Reus. But Ajax turned the game around in the second half, with goals from Dusan Tadic, Sebastien Haller and Davy Klaassen helping them earn a 3-1 win.

It was a rather harsh defeat for Borussia Dortmund, who were the better team before the red card changed the game. Here are our player ratings for the Borussia Dortmund players from their 3-1 defeat to Ajax.

Gregor Kobel (7/10)

Kobel did the job asked of him and made a number of vital saves for his side. But he did not stand a chance with any of the three Ajax goals.
