Youssoufa Moukoko has been forced to pull out of the Germany U-21s squad due to an infection in his eye.

The DFB have announced that Youssoufa Moukoko will not be available for Germany U-21s’ upcoming European U-21s Championship qualifiers as he has withdrawn from the squad due to an eye infection.

This is the third time this year that Youssoufa Moukoko has been forced to drop out from the Germany U-21s squad. The 16 year old suffered a ligament injury just before the start of the European U-21s Championship in March that forced him to miss the rest of the 2020/21 season.

Moukoko was then forced to withdraw from the Germany U-21s squad again in October after suffering a torn muscle fibre. The highly rated striker had to miss four games as a result of that. But hopefully, the eye infection will not keep him out for long.

Moukoko made his Germany U-21s debut in September, and has scored three goals in just two appearances for them. He has made nine appearances for Borussia Dortmund so far this season, and has one assist to his name.

Borussia Dortmund winger Ansgar Knauff is still part of the Germany U-21s squad. The 19 year old made his Germany U-21s debut last month, and will be looking to get more playing time in their upcoming games.
