Jude Bellingham believes that Donyell Malen will kick on now and start scoring regularly after the striker got his first Bundesliga goal during Borussia Dortmund’s 2-1 win over VfB Stuttgart.

Donyell Malen hasn’t enjoyed the best of starts to his Borussia Dortmund career. But he finally opened his account in the Bundesliga on Saturday to help the Black and Yellows earn a 2-1 win at home to VfB Stuttgart.

Malen delivered a much improved performance as he started up front for Borussia Dortmund against Stuttgart in the absence of Erling Haaland. And he got his reward in the second half, when his shot from the edge of the box found the bottom corner of the net via a deflection.

Jude Bellingham, who helped set up the goal for Malen, said that he was very happy to see his teammate finally get his first Bundesliga goal. The midfielder added that he expects Malen to start scoring more often as he gets more and more confidence.

"“I’m just very happy for him (Malen) really,” Bellingham said. “It’s about time that he scored in the league. He’s finally done it and I think he’ll kick on now and start to get some more as he gets more confidence.”"

Malen also spoke about his goal and said that he was very happy to score in front of the Yellow Wall, adding that it was something he had dreamed about.

"“I’m very happy to score in front of the Yellow Wall,” Malen said. “It’s something I’ve dreamed of and I’m really happy that I could help the team as well.”"

Malen’s goal will certainly give him a boost of confidence as he looks to finally kick-start his Borussia Dortmund career. The Black and Yellows’ next opponents are Sporting CP in the UEFA Champions League, who Malen scored the winner against in the reverse fixture. And the Netherlands international will be aiming to help his side get the three points on Wednesday.
