Emre Can and Mahmoud Dahoud are not ready to play from the start just yet, so Marco Rose has gone with the same midfield three.
Axel Witsel is due for a bit of rest, but he starts once again in the defensive midfield role. He has struggled a bit in recent games, and will need to be at his best against Sporting CP.
Jude Bellingham is set to make his 20th straight start of the season for Borussia Dortmund. The 18 year old has been one of Dortmund’s best performers this season. And he will be keen on picking up right where he left off at the weekend.
Julian Brandt was far from his best against Stuttgart on Saturday. But the playmaker has been in good form of late. Thorgan Hazard’s absence means that he will be crucial to Dortmund’s hopes of getting the three points against Sporting.
