Reinier (4/10)

Making his first ever start in the UEFA Champions League, Reinier looked decent early on. But he wasn’t able to make any real impact on the game. He looked to be all out of ideas by the time he was taken off in the second half.

Marco Reus (4.5/10)

Reus was kept quiet by the Sporting defence for the majority of the game. He wasn’t able to provide the spark that Dortmund desperately needed from him, but did set up Donyell Malen’s consolation goal late on.

Donyell Malen (6/10)

Malen ended the evening with a goal, but he should have done a lot better considering the chances he had. He still put in a very encouraging shift and looked lively whenever he got on the ball.

Emre Can (3/10)

Can came on to replace Schulz at half time and was sent off in the 74th minute. While there is a debate to be had over whether the red card was justified or not, Can did not help his cause by getting overly aggressive and unnecessarily losing his cool. An experienced player like him simply should not react like that.

Steffen Tigges (5/10)

Tigges came on for Reinier but wasn’t able to cause any problems to the Sporting defence. He was played into some good positions, but his lack of quality was evident.

Dan-Axel Zagadou (4/10)

Zagadou gave away a penalty and was then too late to react on the rebound after Kobel saved it.

Mahmoud Dahoud (5/10)

Dahoud wasn’t able to get on the ball much after coming on to replace Witsel.
