Erling Haaland has recovered from his hip flexor injury and will be in the Borussia Dortmund squad to take on VfL Wolfsburg this weekend.

Erling Haaland is closing in on his return to action, just over a month after suffering a hip flexor injury that looked set to rule him out until the end of the calendar year. Marco Rose confirmed during his pre-match press conference on Friday that the prolific striker will be in the Borussia Dortmund squad for this weekend’s game against VfL Wolfsburg.

Rose confirmed that while Haaland is only ready for a short assignment right now, he is feeling good and ready to return to action.

"“Erling will also be on the bus (to Wolfsburg), he has progressed very well in the last few days,” Rose said. “Erling feels good, but it will be a short assignment at the most.”“If Erling goes to Wolfsburg this weekend and continues to make progress in training next week, he will certainly be an option for the game against Bayern.”"

Haaland’s return comes at an important time for Borussia Dortmund, who have a massive game coming up against Bayern Munich next weekend. The Black and Yellows were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League earlier this week, and they will now be more determined than ever to take the fight to Bayern this season.

Haaland has been sorely missed by Borussia Dortmund in recent games. So hopefully, he will be fully fit before long. But Dortmund will also know that they cannot rush him back to action.

In addition to Haaland, Youssoufa Moukoko and Marius Wolf are also set to return to the Borussia Dortmund squad this weekend. But Jude Bellingham will miss this weekend’s game after taking a knock to his knee against Sporting CP. Raphael Guerreiro remains a doubt, but he was able to train individually on Thursday without any pain.
