Thomas Meunier (6/10)

Meunier knew he was one booking away from a suspension and resisted from going one on one with the Wolfsburg wing-backs and forwards. He needed some help from Marius Wolf and Ansgar Knauff, but managed to get the job done in the end. He wasn’t able to make much of an impact going forward.

Manuel Akanji (7/10)

Akanji continued his fine run of form with another strong performance. He made some vital blocks to keep Borussia Dortmund ahead in the second half. And he also helped keep Weghorst quiet for the majority of the game.

Mats Hummels (6.5/10)

Hummels was outshone by Akanji once again, but he still put in a solid shift in defence. He made several vital tackles and clearances for his side and made sure that Dortmund stayed ahead in the game.

Nico Schulz (6/10)

Schulz had a bit of a rough start and was caught out of position in the build-up to Wolfsburg’s opener. But he made amends after that and got better as the game went on. He also had a few encouraging moments going forward and hit the post with a fine strike early in the second half.
