Erling Haaland marked his return with a goal as Borussia Dortmund came from behind to earn an impressive 3-1 win over Wolfsburg.

Borussia Dortmund delivered one of their best performances of the season as they claimed an impressive comeback win over Wolfsburg on Saturday. Goals from Emre Can, Donyell Malen and Erling Haaland ensured a stunning 3-1 win for the Black and Yellows after Wout Weghorst had given Wolfsburg an early lead.

Marco Rose made four changes to the team that lost to Sporting CP on Wednesday, with Mats Hummels, Emre Can, Mahmoud Dahoud and Marius Wolf all coming into the starting XI. Erling Haaland started on the bench, making a surprise return from his hip flexor injury.

Borussia Dortmund started well and had a couple of encouraging moments inside the opening 90 seconds of the game. But it was Wolfsburg who struck the first blow. Wout Weghorst chested home the opener after just two minutes, with Ridle Baku providing a fine cross for the Dutch striker.

Baku continued to cause a lot of problems on the right flank, but it was Borussia Dortmund who dominated the game for the majority of the first half. And they were awarded a route back into the game in the 33rd minute as Maxence Lacroix fouled Marco Reus inside the box. Emre Can stepped up to take the penalty and made no mistake from 12 yards out. In the end, the first half ended with nothing to separate the two sides.

Borussia Dortmund made a strong start to the second half, with Nico Schulz hitting the post in the 48th minute. And Marco Rose’s side got the reward for their dominance ten minutes into the second half, as Donyell Malen skipped past two Wolfsburg players before finding the back of the net with a fine strike from the edge of the box.

Wolfsburg had a couple of chances to get back on level terms, but it was Borussia Dortmund who struck again. And the goalscorer was none other than Erling Haaland, who celebrated his return from injury with a goal after getting on the end of Julian Brandt’s cross.
