Borussia Dortmund youth teams roundup: Julian Rijkhoff scores five for the U-19s, Youssoufa Moukoko makes BVB II debut
Youssoufa Moukoko made his Borussia Dortmund II debut, while Julian Rijkhoff scored five goals for the U-19s this past weekend.
Borussia Dortmund II earned a hard fought goalless draw at home to 1. FC Kaiserslautern this past weekend, with Youssoufa Moukoko making his 3. Liga debut. The 17 year old striker made his return to action after recovering from the eye infection he suffered earlier this month. He spent 62 minutes on the pitch for the BVB U-23s but wasn’t able to help them find a breakthrough.
The goalless draw helped Borussia Dortmund II move up to eighth place in the 3. Liga standings. They are now just four points behind third placed VfL Osnabrück.
Meanwhile, the Borussia Dortmund U-19s enjoyed a goal glut on Sunday afternoon as they claimed a comprehensive 9-1 win over Fortuna Düsseldorf in the U-19s Bundesliga West. Former Ajax youth team player Julian Rijkhoff scored five of Dortmund’s nine goals to help them claim a stunning win.
Rijkhoff opened the scoring in the second minute of the game, and then went on to cap off the win by scoring his fifth goal in the 89th minute. The 16 year old has now scored 15 goals in just 18 appearances for the U-19s so far this season.
Göktan Gürpüz, Tom Rothe, Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Bradley Fink were also on target for the Borussia Dortmund U-19s. Mike Tullberg’s side have won seven of their opening eight games in the U-19s Bundesliga West, drawing the other one. They are currently sitting comfortably at the top of the U-19s Bundesliga West standings.
