Adam Hložek reportedly attracting Borussia Dortmund interest
Borussia Dortmund are being linked with a move for highly rated Sparta Praha and Czech Republic forward Adam Hložek once again.
Links between promising young players and Borussia Dortmund seem to pop up in the advent of every transfer window. This time, the name floating around is Sparta Praha’s Adam Hložek, and it’s not the first time the Czech talent has been linked with the club, either. Hložek was initially linked with the club when the departure of Jadon Sancho was initially discussed in more detail back in 2020.
With the signing of Karim Adeyemi now looking imminent, particularly because of Barcelona’s interest in Manchester City’s Ferran Torres, it’s interesting to see that Dortmund are now being linked with Hložek again, who has been watched by many of Europe’s top sides, especially when he is being touted for a transfer independent of the Adeyemi deal. Dortmund’s interest in Hložek is being reported by Sport1.
Hložek has played 15 league games for his current side this season and been involved in 11 goals, scoring 4 and assisting a further 7. Hložek fits the bill for the perfect Dortmund transfer – young, talented and offensively inclined with a very high ceiling of potential. The links with Hložek make you wonder just what Dortmund are trying to do with the squad however, and what role players currently in the squad will perform moving forward.
There have been rumors linking Youssoufa Moukoko to a loan away, which would leave space for an additional striker in the squad. The general assumption, at least in my opinion, was that this spot would be held by Adeyemi should this transfer come to fruition.
Dortmund could also perhaps be looking to use Hložek himself on the wing, which both his numbers and previous performances show that he is able to do quite adeptly, but most of his attributes seem to indicate that he would be both more comfortable and better utilized playing in a more central-attacking role. If the latter is the case, then Hložek himself may be earmarked to be Haaland’s potential replacement up top alongside Adeyemi.
While this is all just speculation as of right now, throwing Hložek’s name into the mix certainly makes for an interesting rumor. The focus of the club, should this rumor be believed, seems to be offensive reinforcements when bolstering other areas on the pitch seems to be a more pressing issue. The signing of Hložek would be a fantastic one, but one can only hope that it comes independent of a signing in a position far more crucial to the general balance of the team, and not “just independently” of another attacker.
