Youssoufa Moukoko has suffered another injury blow, with Borussia Dortmund confirming that the highly rated striker has a torn muscle fibre.

Youssoufa Moukoko has endured a difficult time due to injuries this year, and his latest injury looks set to rule him out until the end of 2021. Borussia Dortmund have confirmed that the young striker suffered a torn muscle fibre while playing for the U-23s in the 3. Liga clash against 1. FC Kaiserslautern last weekend.

Ruhr Nachrichten and Kicker both report that Moukoko will not be available to play again until after the winter break.

This is the third injury setback Moukoko has suffered this year. He suffered a foot ligament in March while on Germany U-21s duty and was forced to miss the European U-21s Championship as well as the rest of the season. He then suffered a torn muscle fibre while on international duty again in October, and missed four games as a result of that. The hope at Borussia Dortmund will be that Moukoko’s latest injury will not keep him sidelined for too long.

Moukoko has made a total of 24 appearances so far for Borussia Dortmund. The 17 year old has three goals and one assist to his name.

Ruhr Nachrichten also report that it is possible Gio Reyna may not make his return to action until after the winter break. The attacking midfielder made his return to training on Tuesday, but he still has to work his way back to full fitness before he can start playing again.
