Marco Rose: We need a top performance in all departments to beat Bayern Munich
Borussia Dortmund face the toughest test of their season so far on Saturday as they take on Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga. And Marco Rose believes that the only way to beat the Bavarians is by delivering a top performance in every department.
Title rivals Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich will battle it out at the Signal Iduna Park this weekend. Just one point separates the two teams going into this top of the table clash. And both teams will be determined to get the three points to give themselves a big boost in their hopes of winning the Bundesliga title this season.
Marco Rose is looking forward to going up against Bayern Munich. But the Borussia Dortmund head coach also knows that beating Julian Nagelsmann’s side won’t be easy, and that his team will have to deliver a complete performance if they are to get the win on Saturday.
"“It’s always exciting to play against Bayern and compete with them,” Rose said during his pre-match press conference. “We have managed to stay close and keep the gap small. Now we have them in our own stadium in a direct duel. We want to try and hurt them and keep the three points here.”“You need an absolute top performance in all departments (to beat Bayern). It’s important for us to put pressure on them, even if we don’t always succeed. We have to work well without the ball, defend against their offensive power and find solutions with the ball.”"
Bayern Munich have won each of their last six games against Borussia Dortmund. And Marco Rose wants his players to seize the opportunity and finally end their barren run in Der Klassiker this weekend.
"“Tomorrow will not necessarily decide the German championship. But it’s a game with a ripple effect, a game with prestige. It’s been so long since we’ve had any success here. And now we want to seize the opportunity.”"
Borussia Dortmund are set to welcome Erling Haaland back into the starting XI on Saturday, with the striker fit again after recovering from his hip flexor injury. Rose confirmed during his press conference that Haaland is not ready to play for 90 minutes just yet. Jude Bellingham and Manuel Akanji are both doubts going into the game, while Thorgan Hazard, Youssoufa Moukoko and Gio Reyna remain out for now.
